The establishment of ZS Elastomers Co., Ltd is based on a Joint Venture Agreement between Zeon Corporation (“Zeon”) and Sumitomo Chemical Company (“Sumitomo Chemical”) to consolidate both companies Solution Styrene Butadiene Rubber (“S-SBR”) businesses.

Zeon and Sumitomo Chemical will transfer the S-SBR R&D, marketing, and sales activities of their group companies to ZS Elastomers, which will commence operations on April 1, 2017.

S-SBR is a material used in the production of fuel efficient tires. The demand for fuel efficient tires is expected to grow steadily in the future, as regulations become stricter and environmental awareness increases. As a result, competition is intensifying as various manufactures are raising production capacity.

By combining the technological expertise of Zeon and Sumitomo Chemical, ZS Elastomers will strengthen the S-SBR business through developing new products to meet customer needs, enhancing cost competitiveness, and securing a stable product supply.
